What Kind Of Camping Equipment Will I Need?

Choosing the camping equipment that should be taken on a trip will depend on many factors. One must consider the climate, weather possibilities, terrain and length of the trip. These are all important for knowing how and what to pack for a camping trip.

The climate is a very important consideration. Preparations need to be thorough but not overdone. In warmer climates carrying excess weight can be eliminated as lighter clothes are needed. But in a cooler climate one may need to prepare for cooler temperatures at night and warm days. A camper wants to take only what is necessary without carrying a lot of extra supplies.

Weather can change on a dime, especially in higher elevations. Some areas are prone to rain showers at various times throughout the day. It is usually a good idea to carry along a light weight poncho for those surprise rain storms.

There are some pieces of equipment that should always be in the backpack. These should be available for the hiker no matter how long the excursion may be. A knife is an invaluable tool on any hike. It can serve so many purposes and should always be included in the pack. Always have a hat available. This can provide protection from sun and rain.

A tent will be needed for extended or overnight camping trips. Usually, each camper carries their own lightweight one person tent on their pack. However, if it is an extended stay a larger tent may be preferable. In these cases the tent can be rotated around to various participants while others carry along other necessary camping equipment such as cooking utensils, water, or bedding.

When packing camping equipment, everything should be as light as possible. Food, water and protection from the elements are the most important items to include. When you are prepared with these equipment, you will be able to have fun!

Insurance As Part of Your Adventure Plans

Outdoor adventures of all kinds are favorites for many of us. We love to explore the great outdoors. Many of us engage in hiking, biking, hunting or other activities on a regular basis.

We enjoy taking a hike through the mountains for a day trip. Some of us even take on the great peaks and mountaineer, hiking to the top over the course of days or even weeks. We take river-rafting trips down the Grand Canyon or other white water venues. Don’t forget about those people who love to enjoy biking across the broad expanses of our country. And then there are those who love the snow sports — skiing, snowboarding and more.

Most of us, when we set out on our adventures, take precautions against any potential dangers. We make sure we have all the proper gear, food and water when we venture to the backcountry for backpacking or camping adventures. If we are hunters, we make sure we are aware of gun safety, as well as other dangers of the outdoors including wildlife or getting lost in the wilderness.

But how many of us think about our insurance coverage when we are preparing for our outdoor adventures? Do we have adequate medical or health insurance in case of an accident or injuries? Do we have travel insurance coverage in case we fall sick in a foreign country or our trip plans somehow meet difficulties, such as cancellations or political unrest? And overall, do we have life insurance to protect our family’s futures in case of our untimely death?

Insurance should be part of our adventure planning. Insurance is not as expensive as many of us believe and by spending a bit of time getting online insurance quotes, we’ll be able to see just how inexpensive that important layer of protection is.

Easing Concerns: Pet Insurance

No vacation, you’ve come to realize, is an easy thing. It’s instead a careful collection of plans and budgeting, the understanding of every little cost. You’ve devoted the year to preparation — and the result is your success. A family holiday has been achieved, tailored for a week of thrills. All rooms have been secured; all arrangements have been made. There is nothing left to do beyond reveling in your own cleverness… and finding someone to watch your dog.

Your beloved pet cannot join you on this excursion. A hotel refused to allow it; a plane was too great of a concern. There was no choice therefore but to leave him behind (in the company of those he’s familiar with). But gaining permission has been a challenge. Few individuals want the responsibility of a dog. Fewer still are willing to even indulge the idea. You’re being denied again and again, told it can’t be done.

And the reason isn’t a lack of friendliness. It’s instead a worry for health.

Even the most cheerful of neighbors will hesitate to accept another’s pet. There is a fear of accidents occurring, of illness suddenly appearing — and most feel they will be forced then to deal with the aftermath. It seems too much of a burden.

It doesn’t have to be.

By choosing pet insurance you can guarantee not only the safety of your dog, but the comfort of your friends. Complete coverage will be provided, with medical costs and hospital visits no longer the terror they’ve always seemed. Individuals won’t hesitate to help your pet, sparing no thoughts for whether you can afford the care (or if they’ll subsequently be forced to make the payments due to your absence). They’ll instead hurry to the vet, ensuring that your animal is safe.

A vacation may be wanted. Pet insurance, however, is needed. Protect your dog and your neighbors.

My Mommy Moment: Taking Care of Myself

As a mother of two I vowed to take care of myself. Every mother wants to be there to see their children grow up and share all those milestones with them. I made sure that I took care of myself when I was ill, went to my routine doctor’s appointments and took the recommended medications when they were prescribed. I did everything that I could for myself on the inside. However, I wasn’t taking the best care of my outward appearance.

No, I wasn’t walking around in dirty clothing, mismatched socks or disheveled hair. It wasn’t anything like that. I wasn’t taking care of my beauty routine. Sure I washed my face, put on makeup and did my hair in a quick up do, but I wasn’t taking care of my skin like I should.

One evening as I was taking off my makeup for the evening and winding down, I looked into the mirror only to realize that I had started to break out in acne. All throughout my teenage years I had never had to experience acne breakouts. However, whether it was the stress of having children, hormonal changes from pregnancies or just daily life stress, I was breaking out worse than ever.

Not having any experience with buying acne fighting products, I turned to my friends for help. They all kept recommending I try out Proactiv but with a family to keep in mind I didn’t know if I could afford the cost of the system. Luckily, I was able to do a quick Internet search on Proactiv coupons and came up with some great money saving coupons. I was so excited I used the coupons almost instantly.

While it might not be a huge deal, this experience taught me that it is very important for mommies like myself to take care of both their inner and outer self.

What to Do On A Hike

Shahzad Hike 1

Hiking is an excellent sport for most of the general population. There are areas available around the country that are accessible to people of all abilities, thanks to fairly level or even paved walking surfaces. Hiking is not just about walking around in the woods and climbing up and down mountains. Of course that is the main attraction for most hikers, but while you are out there, take in some of the beauty and features of the land and the creatures living in it. Below are a few ideas to get you thinking about what to see on your next hike. Be sure to leave precious jewelry, like that Chopard watch, at home and take plenty of water and a snack with you.

Hunt for Mushrooms
First, a warning: do not ever, ever eat a mushroom that you can not positively identify. Some mushrooms can kill you after eating just one bite. If you are not a seasoned ‘shroom hunter, do not collect any mushrooms at all but rather take pictures of them. Many of the poisonous mushrooms are more interesting to photograph, anyway. Before you begin the hike, check out one of the many mushroom field guides available at the local library to discover what can be found in your area.

Become a Rockhound
Especially in the western states, rocks are abundant along the trails. While most of them are “just rocks” you may be surprised to see that some of them are quite interesting when they are really inspected. Check out a field guide from the library to find out what features to look for. Do not take rocks from the national parks unless you have been told it is not prohibited. Try to take a portion of the hike along the shoreline because rocks are much easier to identify when they are wet.

Shopping Discounts for the Non-Shopaholics

RAOK Suggestion #15 Buy something on the internet

No matter whether you describe yourself as a shopaholic or an avid non-spender, the reality is that everyone buys stuff. Some people buy a bit more than others – okay, sometimes a lot more than others – but everyone needs scores of things to get through daily life. Printer ink, sandwich fixings, hair styling products, pens, paper, shoes, coats, gloves, mattresses, pillows, and scores of other items make life livable. And they all wear out sooner or later. Or run out, leaving you empty handed, so to speak. That positions you to become a consumer, unless you are one of the very, very few who then decide that your life goes just fine without having the ability to print on hand. Or are willing to give up styling your hair. Or do any of the dozens of other things that indicate to the world that you’d rather be able to smell your money day in and day out than spend it.

For the rest of the populace, there are ways to save when it comes to shopping, but there really aren’t a lot of ways to nix the shopping experience entirely. Bringing it home via online shopping is a convenient way to handle the experience, especially if you’re one of those people who finds the experience of strolling through shopping malls to be a bit overwhelming. Plus, the Internet makes discount shopping a real possibility at all times, not just when a store manager decides it’s time to mark down a few select items. Sites like www.offers.com bring about deep discounts on an incredible array of merchandise from a wide slew of retailers and other suppliers, virtually 24/7.

There’s nothing quite like creating your own sale at a moment’s notice. The Internet allows you to do that as you wish. All while avoiding crowds and the hassles of full parking spots!

Visiting Zion National Park? Check Out the Pet-Friendly Parus Trail

Zion Autumn Splendor
Image by James Marvin Phelps via Flickr

If you have been wanting to visit Utah’s Zion National Park but don’t know if you would be allowed to take your pet on a hike with you, then you’ll be happy to know that you can do so on the Pa’rus Trail.

The Pa’rus Trail is the easiest of all hiking trails in the Zion National Park. It is only 3.6 miles in length, and starts at about 3,950 feet and goes up to about 4,025 feet, so extreme altitude changes won’t be an issue here.

In addition, the Pa’rus Trail follows the Virgin River, and there are several places where you can actually get into the river. You and your pet might enjoy this, especially on a warm day.

This trail is the only one that pets are allowed on, and they must remain leashed at all times. This is for your pet’s protection, as it is possible that you may encounter some of the local wildlife on the trail, such as turkey, deer, skunks, snakes, and even mountain lions. By keeping your pet under control at all times, you will be able to better avoid untimely and possibly dangerous encounters.

You should always clean up after your pet. This is simple common courtesy.

You can choose to either walk or bike the Pa’rus Trail; it has been designed for both types of traffic. The trail makes for a very nice, fairly short hike or bike ride that you and your pet can enjoy.

Because you will be on a nature trail, there is always the possibility that your pet may be injured. If you have obtained a pet insurance policy, and something should happen, you would have coverage for medical treatment and other expenses.

Don’t Miss Out On America’s National Parks

Americans are becoming more and more sedentary. It seems as if every activity that an American loves to do involves sitting around. Whether it is sitting around playing video games, Facebook games or even placing bets on some of the hottest sports betting sites, all of these activities require very little movement.

The unfortunate thing about all this sedentary lifestyle is that people are missing out on some of the prettiest scenic views that are right in their own backyard. America’s national parks offer some of the prettiest views of America. However, because of the sedentary lifestyle that has become so popular people have stopped going to these parks.

If you’ve been living too long on the computer or in front of a TV here is a list of some of the great assets the National Parks offer.

1. Unique Wildlife. Some of the most unique wildlife creatures live in the national parks. When you go hiking through a national park you can see bears, mountain goats, deer and a number of other wildlife that you wouldn’t normally see anywhere else.

2. Native Plant life. Just like wildlife, there are many unique plants throughout the national parks. Some of the plant life is extinct or not available anywhere else.

3. Glaciers. Some of the national parks include mountain top views. Hiking to the top of mountains are one of the only chances for people to see some of the only existing glaciers in the world. These huge chunks of ice are really a sight to be seen and can only be seen while hiking through some of America’s own national parks.

These are just some of the wonderful reasons that you should get up and enjoy hiking through the national parks. Each hike offers a different experience and allows people to see a completely different side to America.

Yep, You’ve Arrived

There are a few ways to know when you have completely arrived in life. For instance, when your life story gets to, “then they did that story on me in Forbes…,” you have arrived in life. If you ever do anything aboard your private 200 foot yacht, there is a pretty good chance that you have arrived in life. And when you look in your accounts and honestly wonder what you are going to do with all of that money, you have pretty much arrived. And most of the world probably hates you for that fact, because a lot of people really do not seriously consider the comparative merits of picking up another Bentley versus another Ferrari.

Now, if you are at this level of wealth, you really have options beyond just poring over your potential investments yourself. While you can certainly find the time to do so, and can definitely justify the time spent in such an endeavor, you can also extricate yourself from such messy details and go on to do more fun things. Such is the purview of a life where wealth has finally been attained. Freedom really is its own reward, no matter what all of the wage slaves will tell you.

A lot of people who are where you are have enjoyed investing in Munies – or municipal bonds, to those who can not afford them. And since you have the gilt edged plutocracy thing down pat, you can even afford some Municipal bond portfolio management. Why should you handle all of the nitty gritty stuff all by yourself? What would be the point of being wealthy, if you just owned your investments like some kind of job that you can never escape doing (like a lot of less successful small business owners tend to do in their lives)? Give that up, and let the pros work for you.

If you don’t know by now that the Internet is your friend, then you have been living under a rock. The information super highway is the single best invention for streamlining your life and giving you all the wonderful access that it contains. Now, if the Internet is good for one thing, it’s good for saving you money on the things you want. You can comparison shop as well as find alternatives to the products that you want.

But what you may not know is that the Internet is also good way to save you money on your next vacation. Believe it or not, the Internet is big business when it comes to finding you ways to save on your next trip and it happens in a variety of ways.

Going on a cruise is a great way to spend your week, but paying a lot for it can put a damper on it. Going online and searching for cheap cruises can produce some great value buys. You can head out to exciting destinations for just pennies on the dollar. When you are working on a budget, like most Americans, that is music to your ears.

The Internet can be a great way to find hotels for less when booking your next vacation. Many of these sites are hooked up with the hotel owners themselves and are allowed to authorize great deals on their behalf. Getting online and booking a hotel through one of these sites is most assuredly the best way to save money on your next stay in a gorgeous city.

Planning a vacation can be both costly and exciting, so planning it online is the most logical choice if you want a vacation that not only gives you memories to last a lifetime but gives you comfort in your checkbook.
