Sales of hiking equipment and outdoor products cools in August

After many consecutive months of growth, retail sales of outdoor hiking products has come to a grinding halt in the month of August. This has spurned concern from the manufacturers and retailers of these products.

The reason for growth in Outdoor Hardgoods was due to the fact that camping and hiking are becoming more popular activities. More people are looking into National Parks as vacation getaways. Officials of the Outdoor Industry Association think it is a good sign that their “Consumer Confidence Index” was up for the month of August.
